We are about to wrap up our Two Week Experience (TWE), and I’m so sad to see these campers go! I love every camp session, but the TWE has a special place in my heart. We introduced it during my first summer as director—when I was younger and perhaps a little bolder—and I love seeing what happens when campers have extra time at Cedarbrook.
Friendships grow deeper, conversations become less hurried, and the impact feels like far more than simply two weeks of camp. This session’s highlights have included rearranging overnight trips because of the weather, which led to “Frunday”—our Friday schedule held on Sunday—the revival of “Bunco with Olli,” and our upcoming CILT graduation, when seven young women will officially join our staff team.
One camper shared this on her midweek evaluation:
“The overnight was a new experience, and some parts were a bit uncomfortable, but I overall enjoyed it. My favorite part was either spending time with my tentmates or having quiet time at the creek.”
We have felt the prayers of our Cedarbrook family throughout the summer as God has provided staff, seasonable weather, and protection. We are so grateful that we are not doing this work alone! Please pray that our final two weeks of summer camp will be filled with renewed energy, enthusiasm, and joy for the work God has given us.
As we look ahead to post-camp life—while also trying to remain present in these final weeks—we are hoping to make good progress on our dining hall roofing project. Do you have time to help August 21–23? You can sign up here. We will also need a great crew for Labor Day Work Weekend to help us close camp for the season.
In Christ,
