When I was in middle school, I spent four weeks at camp with many of my close friends. We weren’t all in the same cabin every week, but we saw each other frequently, did activities together, and hung out on the weekends.
Somehow, one of those weeks, we ended up with a broom in our cabin that became a friend. The broom in Walnut cabin was evidently superior to the other brooms around the division, so we named him Bob and counted on him to sweep our floors and keep our cabin clean so that we could win the cabin capers competition.
The problem, of course, was that we had to switch cabins the next week, and Bob didn’t come with us. Sweeping was so much harder without Bob, so we sneakily kidnapped him. Soon, there was an all-out Bob war raging across the division, and finding the broom on any given day was tricky at best. By the end of the week, we had tied him to a random team in the woods and were leaving clues for the counselors to help them find the extra broom. I distinctly remember an end of the week cabin photo being taken with Bob as well (though I have no idea what happened to that photo).
What are some camp jokes and harmless pranks you remember?
