Candle Ceremony

On the last night of the session, campers and staff walk up to the soccer field under a beautiful star-filled sky. The evening begins with sharing, as we pass the sharing rock and each girl can share something she learned during the session. This rock will be added to the others along the path representing all the campers that came in sessions and years before. When campers return to camp, they can see the rock from past summers and remember their time at camp.

The Candle Ceremony

After sharing, we sing the theme song and form a circle around the field. Director Ellie speaks to the girls about the importance of the truth they have learned at camp and encourages them to take this truth home with them and share it with the world. Campers and staff are called forward and receive a candle, based on their year at camp. When all campers and staff have their candles, Ellie lights her candle from the campfire. She then lights the candles next to her. In this way the flame makes its way around the circle. During the passing, we sing the song “Pass it On” followed by the Cedarbrook Song, “By Cedarbrook’s Shining Waters." The night ends with a prayer from the director.
